" I really love it! The neck feels great. It's really easy to play and it sounds fantastic, It didn't take long for me to get the sound I was looking for- the neck pickup, a little tweak of the tone pot and the controls flat on my Acoustic Image amp.
The high "a" sounds great and it's really not tight feeling at all so you really nailed it as far as the scale length. The fanning of the frets is a non-issue as far as playability. It's really easy.
The workmanship and the finish are impeccable.
Tonight I have a duo gig tonight with a sax player. I usually use my classical 8-string but tonight I'll be taking both.
Finally, it was a pleasure dealing with you. You do what you say you're going to do and when you say you're going to do it, I would recommend your work to anyone."

Thanks,

"I'm completely satisfied with my Wes Lambe 8 string.  With a beautiful tone, flawless craftsmanship, and incredible action, this is truly an 'instrument'.   My inspiration for finger style guitar comes from Hawaiian slack key and open tunings; and I have had no trouble adjusting this type of playing to the 8.

I wholeheartedly recommend Wes's instruments."

"Well what can I say but I love my Wes Lambe 8 String.  It feels great and plays like a dream. Wes's craftsmanship has resulted in a truly inspiring instrument to play.  It has far surpassed my expectations and I am extremely pleased with it.  It has opened up composition ideas to me on guitar far beyond what I had hoped.  For years I've been using the piano when composing or arranging for strings and horns in order to work out voicing and parts.  Now my 8 string has made all that possible for me to do on my main instrument, guitar.  It has also allowed me to view the guitar neck in an entirely different way and has opened up the instrument to me in both my 6 & 8 string playing.  Allowing me to become a better musician.  To anybody currently contemplating getting and 8 like I was.  Take the leap and do it.  I sat on the fence for far to long and when I finally took the leap I never looked back.  My only regret is I didn't do it sooner!!"

"I just got it yesterday! I was pretty much completely lost on it when I first got it, but I put a solid 8 hours into it yesterday and it’s going great. Sounds awesome, feels awesome. It was much easier to get a hang of than I thought."

"I just logged 12 months of practicing, playing and recording on my Wes
Lambe semi-hollow six. It sounds just as amazing as it looks. At least
one curious person inquires about my guitar at every single show. I now
carry around wes' business cards so I point them in the right direction.
It's an unbelievable intstrument and my prized possession."

"I have had the 8-string guitar you built for me for a few months
now. Even after the novelty of a "new" guitar has worn off, it still
amazes me everyday. I have owned plenty of expensive guitars:
archtops, custom 7-strings, hot-rod solid bodies, etc... I am not a
collector -- I buy guitars to PLAY them. If I spend a lot of hard
earned money on a guitar and it isn't absolutely perfect, I send it
back. I have aggravated more than a few custom builders with my
impossible standards. Your workmanship is flawless. Every part on
this guitar is a quality part. The design of your 8-string has been
thought out and refined to perfection. And the biggest test of all -
IT SOUNDS UNREAL.
The guitar is perfectly balanced for a strap or sitting. The finish
on the body is flawless and the ergonomic contours make it a breeze
to play for hours. The neck is perfectly comfortable and feels great
in the hands. The fretboard is perfectly radiused. The action is
great -- every note on the whole guitar is easy to play and not a
single buzz anywhere. Every fret is perfectly shaped and smooth.
The pick-ups you coupled together all sound fantastic. Even simple
things like volume and tone knobs are perfect. Perfect even tapered
pots and dead silent wiring. Heck, even the tuning machines are
adjusted right. The fanning of the frets is very comfortable and
every string sounds strong and even. Really, everything on this
guitar is TOP NOTCH.
I am probably one of the most critical guitar consumers you can
imagine and I can't think of anything on this guitar that could be
improved. Every note on the guitar sounds unbelievably good. IT
BLOWS MY MIND that you can build such a fine guitar, with such fine
components, that sounds and feels this good, for such a reasonable
price.
Thank you for building me this amazing guitar. Also, thanks for
talking with me on the phone for a year before I actually plunked
down a deposit… and about 100 phone calls and emails during the
construction phase. The guitar and the whole buying experience was a
real pleasure."

"This is the finest stringed instrument I have ever played. I have had my Wes Lambe guitar for 9 months and it challenges me everyday. It makes me want to be a better player. It is fantastic for live shows and definately generates a buzz amongst the listeners. My other guitars and basses are getting lonely but I think they understand. Wes, thanks for building this brilliant instrument."

"I, like most people, got interested in the capabilities of the 8 String guitar when I first saw Charlie Hunter burst onto the scene years ago.
Being left handed though, it was a problem, both of logistics and price.
After shopping around for a couple of years, I became completely discouraged, due to the growing improbability of me owning one of these things without mortgaging a house or selling a kidney.
Then, by sheer happenstance, I saw Wes' name on the Charlie Hunter websites' message board, and checked out his site. I found the design to be very ergonomic and beautiful, and it seemed too good to be true. I called Wes, and when he told me that he makes LEFTIES, at a price that is lower than a Les Paul straight off the rack, I was in a euphoric daze!!!
Wes kept me abreast of all phases of the building process, sending me pictures from the selection of the woods to the completed product. This alone wasa nice treat. When I yanked it out of the case for the first time, I was in love. The tone is excellent, the intonation amazing, the neck sleek and flat radiused!!! I am still trying to get used to it (I have had it for roughly three weeks...) and it IS strange... When you play the 8 string for an hour and then try to play a 6 string, it really does feel like a ukelele or something... But the level of freedom this instrument gives me as far as navigating the rhythm section to uncharted territory is unsurpassed by any other instrument.
This is the ultimate instrument for those artists who like to veer off on musical tangents and not have to yell out changes and coordinate with a bassist/guitarist. You can take risks and actually pull it off every time.
This is the first totally custom instrument I have ever ordered, and I will say this: I cannot wait for my next Wes Lambe guitar. His level of cratfsmanship, design, consistency, punctuality and above all human demeanor should make him enviable to all other businessmen and guitar builders in specific."

As I have said before, you are the freaking man!!!
Much Love and Respect,

"After many hours of practice and several gigs with my Semi-hollow 8-string, I have to say that it amazes me more each day.  I immediately forgot how wide the neck is because it feels so comfortable in my hands.  The tone of this guitar is very rich and versatile.  Everytime someone sees it for the first time they tell me how awesome it sounds and looks.  This guitar is definitely well built and built to last.  Thanks Wes!"

"I couldn’t be happier with my new Wes Lambe 8-string.  It’s truly the most perfect instrument I own.  The playability and intonation are amazing.  I thought that having both bass strings and guitar strings on one guitar would sacrifice intonation and playability for both.  It’s actually the opposite.  My 8-string plays better than my best bass or my favorite 6-string.  It’s simply in a league of it’s own.  Not to mention that it’s the best looking instrument I’ve ever had the privilege of calling my own.  There’s such a sense of pride in owning something that was hand crafted in the finest fashion just for you.  It stands alone as a playable work of art in a guitar world of mass-produced noisemakers.  Experiencing music through this instrument reminds me of the first time I heard jazz, I knew that music would never be the same for me again."
Thanks Wes!

"The instrument was immaculate, the previous owner had taken amazing
care of it; it was like it had come direct from Wes himself. Looking
the instrument over I can safely say I have not seen an instrument
crafted this well before. Every detail has been thought about. The
balance and weight is better than I could have hoped for of an
instrument of this nature and woods used have gained a lot of nice
comments. the sound...immaculate. The fanned frets really do make a
difference to tone and intonation, everything is perfect and all
harmonics ring loud and clear. I have had the instrument a week now
and it just feels so natural to play. when i get a repertoire together
I hope to take it out into the wild to show it off more. i have a
feeling I will be handing out many of your business cards."

"I just want to say thank you for making such a great instrument and I
sincerely hope that I can get you to build another custom 8 to my
specs in the near future."
